This Saturday 26 May, paving will commence on the south side of the intersection of Malop Street and Yarra Street, weather permitting. If weather is not favourable, the work will be rescheduled to later in the construction program. Pedestrians will be diverted as per the map below and wayfinding signage will be in place. Commence delivery of rock layer for road base in preparation for asphalting works next week. Commence delivery and installation of street furniture. Paving will commence during the next two weeks on the Malop Street south/Moorabool Street corner near Westpac Bank. There will be no change to current pedestrian diversions for this work.Ongoing work Continue preparation work for the art installation on the south side of the Green Spine near the mid-block pedestrian crossing. Continue installation of steel garden bed surrounds to existing trees. Continue pouring concrete bases for paving strip. Continue laying pavers in the strip between the footpath and kerb stones. Continue laying kerb stones. Intermittent use of road compacting machinery which is likely to result in ground vibrations being felt during its operation. There will be some noisy work with cutting of pavers. Vehicle access
Malop Street will continue to be closed to all vehicle and cycling traffic between Moorabool and Yarra streets until completion in mid-year. The Malop Street loading dock to Market Square will not be available for deliveries during the road closure and alternative arrangements have been made for deliveries via the Market Square loading dock in Yarra Street.

Hours of work
Day shift: Standard day shift hours for the project will be from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Monday May 28 is an industry RDO, there will be less activity on site. Night shift: Any future night shifts will be advised.

Traffic signals at the intersection of Malop Street and Moorabool Street have been moved. The one remaining redundant traffic pole has been moved. Commencement of concrete pouring on the south side intersection of Malop Street and Yarra Street in preparation for paving. This work is scheduled for Tuesday 22 May, weather permitting. If weather is not favourable, the work will be rescheduled to Thursday 24 May. Pedestrians will be diverted as per the map below and wayfinding signage will be in place.

Ongoing work
Continuation of preparation work for the art installation on the south side of the Green Spine near the mid-block pedestrian crossing. Continue to pour concrete bases for paving strip. Continue laying pavers in the strip between the footpath and kerb stones. Continue laying kerb stones. Continue to bring in new road base. Continue installation of underground growing cells (strata vaults). Intermittent use of road compacting machinery which is likely to result in ground vibrations being felt during its operation. There will be some noisy work with cutting of pavers. There may be some short periods of hammering or cutting. Continuation of construction for the base layer of the new road pavement. Pedestrian access Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained during all trading hours. If access is required outside your normal trading hours, please contact the construction Site Manager with as much notice as possible, so access can be facilitated. A pedestrian link between Market Square and Westfield shopping centres will continue to be available for all trading hours during the works. Wayfinding signage will be in place to direct pedestrians. Seniors Construction Tours
The first of our Seniors Construction Tours was held on May 15 and despite the wet weather, many participants attended and enjoyed hearing about the Green Spine project. The next tour is being held on Tuesday 22 May and there are a few tickets still available. The event is free, but as the purpose is to benefit businesses in the area, participants are encouraged to enjoy an activity, lunch or the opportunity to shop while they are in central Geelong. Traffic management personnel will be in place during this time to assist with pedestrian and vehicle movements. Vehicle access through the intersection will continue as per the current arrangement. Pedestrian access from Market Square to Westfield shopping centres across Malop Street is scheduled to return to the mid-block bluestone crossing this week. Commence laying pavers in the strip between the footpath and kerb stones (section of Malop Street between Moorabool Street and mid-block crossing). Maintenance planting is scheduled to be undertaken on the south side of the Green Spine. Seniors Construction Tours Following the popularity of the Kids Construction Tours during the school holidays, we are holding Seniors Construction Tours at 10:00am on Tuesday 8 and Tuesday 15 May. The construction site manager will guide tour groups around the site, explaining what the workers are doing and what the street will look like when it’s finished. The event is free, but as the purpose is to benefit businesses in the area, participants are encouraged to enjoy an activity, lunch or the opportunity to shop while they are in central Geelong. Car parking passes and coffee vouchers
Additional car parking passes have been distributed to traders in the works zone recently and with this update, we will be distributing more car parking passes along with more free coffee vouchers for Halong Café and Rook:Sri Lankan Fusion for you to distribute to customers at your discretion.
